Thanks for your comments on the previous plains cupid. Here is another blue BF, a pale grass blue (Zizeeria maha) on Zinnia, hence the title. I like the contrast between the muted colors of the BF and the bright colors of the Zinnia.

D90 105mm F8 1/125sec HH. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

Very nice treatment of this butterfly. Looking over the petals of the flower your DOF was very narrow and you had it sharp where needed. Good work Gary.

Very nice indeed, Gary! I like the colors too. Your focus is really spot on. :toast:

These guys are really challenging to capture. It seems almost impossible to have enough light to stop motion and get dof enough to have the wings sharp throughout in natural light. I do really like the colors and detail of the body :wavey:

Gary,
beautiful flower and bf. I especially love the vivid colors of the flower, the pose of the bf and the comp. :toast:

A very nice shot, well composed and the muted colours work very well. Shutter speed was probably a little ambitious for the subject imho, but appreciate that these moments are often fleeting. Still a great shot though.

Gary, you did a great job of getting in close to this one. The details in the body and eye are terrific. I would like to see the wing edges sharp also, but I know how hard that is. The colors in the flower add a lot of interest.

Nice detail where it counts, great colors and exposure Gary.
Generally I will shoot stills of b-flies using fill, even in bright sunlight.
I use a hefty < exposure bias in order to get the DOF I want.
Great image as posted :toast:
