RailRoad Sunset

I was racking my brains this month trying to figure out where to catch yet another sunset and decided I had yet to get one over the railroad tracks. After parking my car on the side of the road I snapped shots of the sun while several boaters drove by wondering what I was doing standing beside and between the tracks with my back to the road. Nobody yelled at me, which I found to be remarkable since it was a Saturday night and drunks are known to travel that road on the weekends. If the haze hadn't swallowed the sun early, I would have gotten a bigger size, but I caught a flying crane under the sun in another shot, no drunks ran into my car, plus I didn't get run over by a train, so I was satisfied.

I had to lighten up the tracks and saturate the sky a bit.
I keep forgetting about the stats requirement.

18-200mm zoom
62mm
f/7.1
1/320s
Multi pattern metering

I love this, its smokey, and has a kind of spooky feel to it. Its impossible to picture yelling drunks in the background. The wonders of photography, eh? Very nicely selected and framed, and I really like the shadows in the vegetation. Well done!

Thank you. This is the best of the edited shots, in my opinion.

Shirley: Oh I like this. I'm a train fan anyway so almost anything with tracks appeals to me. I find the hazy BG just the right element to make this special. Well done.>=))>

Love this. Great tones on the sky. Details maintained in the shadows. Color retained in the sun. Well executed.
