I found this oryx (or he/she found me) in Naukluft park in Namibia. I saw few oryxes walking on sand dunes but they moved away when i came. This one was behind the slope, so he come up, looked at me for few seconds and then started to run. We were some 15-20m from each other. He ran for 100m then ignored me and start grazing and always slowly walking away from me to keep same distance, when i tried to come closer. Anyway i got my shots, so I didn't pushed, i just took some more photos of this fantastic scenery of sand dunes and animals in Namib.

What a stunning image Gorazd. The large image is a must see. I can understand that you would be happy with this shot. I like the plumes of sand trailing the Gemsbok and the different shades of the sand. You also caught he light in the animals eye. Really a nice piece of work. :toast:

Great image. The legs off the ground and the kicked up sand give the feeling of action, yet the animal is very sharp. Nice light and color also.

Love the markings of this oryx against the red sands. His body is ever so slightly turned away from you, a bit of a head turn or a slightly more perpendicular angle would have been nice. Still wonderful, and the sand being kicked up by the hooves and the four feet off the ground pose is cool.

HI Gorazd,

Very nice lighting and colour - this is a beautiful setting. Overall I agree with Gary's comments so won't repeat. In a perfect world the shutter would have clicked JUST when the legs had more separation between them (especially the hind ones), but it's impossible to time this and it does come down to luck of the draw (one big plus of having a camera with a high frame rate and a big enough buffer for long bursts). Overall a pleasure to look at as posted.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Thank you all. I have more shots but as you know, head turning other way, very strange looking tail, and when all comes together on oryx, then the background was cluttered. And it was soon finished, so I will tell my wife now, that according to you i have to go there again and try to do better.
Thank you :jump: :toast:

I love the dune backdrop, and the dust kicked up. I do wish the gemsbok (oryx) was running towards you though
Still enjoyed this very much! :toast:
