I think it is a neat shot! I do wish the bears face was abit sharper. I think the bear should be just a tad higher, it seems almost cut off on the botton. Must have been quite an experience a hail storm and grizzly bear all at the same time. Thanks for sharing.

Very neat action Shawn. I like the layers of fur twisting and turning. Well done, great experience.

So i was having a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to crop this image, it was a tuff one. After talking to some friends about it this is another crop we came up with.
What are your thoughts?

Hey Shawn,

The first crop looked a little off to me - kinda lop-sided if you know what I mean. I think the re-post is stronger - to me the circularity of the head (and concentric rings of fur around it) supports a more symmetrical crop (like the 2nd post) and the legs - altho slightly clipped - add some good "context" to the shot (even tho' the head is obviously the focus). Overall a very cool shot and selecting a higher shutter speed (to make the centre of the facial region sharper) would likely have lead to too much "freezing" of the "blur rings" and reduced the effectiveness of the shot (at least to me).

Cheers...

Cool image! I like your choice of the low shutter speed to make the rest of him blur and keep some detail in the face. I love that water flying!

I think that I prefer the repost. It looks better with the legs showing and makes a nice vertical.
