Wave and cloud action on Inverness Beach, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. This image was taken a little after sunrise on a calmer morning (no gale force winds) in October 2010. The sun is behind me and its warmth was welcome. There is something about watching waves on a beach that is soothing and revitalizing.

Canon 5DM2
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L II at f/16
ISO50 0.5sec f/16
SR Color Combo

Thanks for looking and for any comments and critiques.

Eva,

I'm with Tony - not so much of the wave action, but the sky and clouds are wonderful. Don't get me wrong, the combo of the surf, water motion on the beach, rocky corner and the sky all fit together very well for another classic Eva seascape. I really like the light, airy look and feel in the sky; tranquil, but uplifting in a way too.

I think it's great not to lose sight of the fact that photography is an opportunity sometimes for a simple response to things that we love or that strike a chord with us. It doesn't always have to be so deeply artistic, edgy, or "unique". This is wonderful.

Wave AND cloud action.....Thanks Tony, Nancy, and Lon. It is as much about the clouds as it is the surf.

Kent - you always seem to get to the heart of the matter. This simple, but beautiful place, does strike a chord within me (and I hope others). The magnetism of the simple beauty of this place is why I go back each year.

Thanks all. I do appreciate your input.

A very appealing shot Eva. I really like the combination of the billowing clouds and the relatively gentle wave swash. Only suggestion would be to tone down the brightness of the sky just a bit but in any case this is quite nice.

Eva, it is incredible for me, looking at your picture I feel like watching the waves. Thanks for sharing this experience.

Did you ever think of a panorama image from this seascape?

Hi Eva - I like this image a lot, especially since some of the features in the water nicely echo the sky. I also like the subtle processing.

This one is a little bit mild to many of your other shots from this beach. But it is certainly a calming and pleasurable image to look at. You're right, the beach is a wonderful place to go and smell the air, listen to the waves and feel the surf under your feet!

very nice seascape, as ever from this location, eva. i might have toned down the upper third a little - appears a touch too bright to me.

This is absolutely beautiful Eva. Love the pastels, the sky, the composition. Reminds me of a painting. Very, very strong addition to your seascape portfolio.

Nice!
Very relaxing scene!
I think the brightness is very monitor dependent--on my uncalibrated laptop it looks perfect when i angle the screen a bit down (which cuts doen the brightness) The sky looks just a very small bit too cyan to me, though. Otherwise, perfect.

Lots of dynamics with flow in the clouds and the surf. The rocks in the llc provide a nice bit of stability.
