Nice composition Verdon, I like the way the antlers fill the upper third of the frame and the way they seem to be almost reaching up to catch the sun's light. You did a good job processing this to have the face well exposed in the backlit situation. The faint diagonal line in the dark background is slightly unfortunate, if you are really picky. Tis the season to get this velvet antlers, won't last long.

Verdon,
I'll second Gary that its a shame there is that light diagonal line, but it doesn't bother me much. Great job with the exposure, really handled the lights and darks well on this one! Very beautiful shot!

Hi Verdon,
That's quite the "fuzzy rack"! Good job on the exposure here - not the simplest scene to capture (and/or process) well. I like the light here and the sharpness of the elk. I did notice the faint diagonal line crossing the frame but it hardly distracted me at all. I have to admit that the bigger distractions for me were the zones of brightness in other parts of the frame (with the highlights at the top of the image pulling my eye the most, followed by the bright zones touching top and bottom of the elk. You handled them very well, but they still detract a little for me...
Cheers...thanks for sharing this...
