Skimmer

I have been trying to capture a good image of the Skimmers at Bolsa Chica while they are skimming. About a week ago they started skimming inside the reserve where you can catch some images. The only problem is when there is activity there is lousy light and when the light is OK then the activity is slow or far off. This was taken Sunday on an overcast morning. I like the image with the tiny pickleweed islet and the reflection of the skimmer. I think is came out alright for the conditions.

Cropped to 55% of full frame.

C&Cs are appreciated.

Wow! What a perfect set-up with that pickleweed islet situated as the backdrop with the Skimmer slicing the water's surface at just the right angle, absolutely fantastic Harry! When I first looked at the thumbnail I was sure you'd added some sort of beige vignetting to produce this almost pinhole effect, but obviously this is all natural, very well done, I really like this a lot :^)

Definately a different take on a skimmer shot and I like it. I couldn't see the larger version on my monitor for some reason but looks sharp to me.

Harry, you got a great angle here! The water splashes are perfect. The isolated island is excellent and provides a "different" image.
I'd suggest experimenting with lightening the whole image a bit - the skimmer gets a little lost in front of thge island.
Excellent catch!

Thx Harry for posting this image of a stunning bird.
I very much like the action, the splashing water and the red bill.
No sure whether the pickleweed islet as a BG makes the image stronger. I tend to think that it does not.

Still, it is not the easiest subject around, and I think that that way you captured the flying skimmer is excellent.
