I have found the Playboy mansion grotto of our pond and damsel flies by the dozen cavorting wildly. I shot perhaps 30 frames and none were without blur so this is far from perfect.

That's quite a sighting Charlie :^)

I really like the way some of the blue bodies and delicate wings are nicely offset against the dark background. Although it may well have not been possible, I think a lower angle of view might have helped to emphasise this all the more.

A lower angle would be much better and I'll be looking for activity and try getting lower today. This is at a difficult place with large rocks surrounding this part of the stream. Thanks for viewing and comments.

Hi Charlie,

Nice exposure in what looks to be fairly tricky lighting. While I'm a fan of animalscapes (i.e., including a fair amount of space around the subjects for environmental context), I think this is a case where getting in somewhat tighter might have produced a stronger image? I know things like this easier said than done...but just a thought...

I'm trying Brad. Shot some yesterday but haven't gotten what I think is any better image. This is an interestin place in this stream.
