Had to persevere with the Sigma 150 macro which I have never really got to grips with. This is really because my 50mmSigma macro won't work on the new D7000 !
There's something about this shot that I like but can't honestly put my finger on. Maybe its the position of the wings.
D7000 Sigma 150mm Monopod
640 ISO 320th sec @f 14
Levels in Paint Shop Pro 60% of full frame.
Neat image
Sharpened CZM

I like this too, John. The detail in this butterfly is exquisite, so much so that a somewhat busy BG has no negative effect in my opinion. Color balance is so nice.

John:
The butterfly is in perfect condition and the details you have captured is exquisite. The orange on the forewings gives them a nice glow. Nice placement of the BF and the white petals provide good contrast to the brown. Wish the bg is a little more blur but its no deal breaker.

I like the sharpness in the butterfly and in the flower. This part stands out so nicely that it feels like a vignette. To me the fact that you can recognize the background, but that you don't pay much attention to it works very well.

I think it is the natural simplicity of the shot John that makes it special. It is a lovely composition. :toast:
