Reaching for the Sun

Rainy day today but I still packed my camera and headed out to my local Arboretum. By the time I arrived, it was a gentle rain so I started walking through the gardens. I'm not sure if this is a sunflower or echinacea. There are usually plant tags but I didn't see one and didn't want to spend too much time out in the rain.

I used the Citron Vert texture from Flypaper Textures, a bit of work with Viveza to darken the center and then cropped the image. Even with the rain, it was a good day to be out.

Comments are always greatly appreciated.

Any day with a camera is a good day. I really like the painterly look here and the rich texture. The colors are sweet and warm. Wonderful image.

Thanks Nancy and David. Yes Nancy, you're right ... any day with a camera is a good day. I photographed my favorite subject today, classic antique cars, and had a blast. I'm very happy with how the textures worked on this image. Thanks for taking a few minutes to stop by.

Very artistic use of textures. I like this composition and the sense of warmth conveyed, but also find myself wondering about the cut off petals. Definitely an echinacea with that head.
