Wood warbler

Interesting how this woodland warbler fed its chicks for most of the time on mayflies fromm a small stream.
Difficult with dappled sunlight, wind and dark under canopy conditions. A lot of chuck outs !
D7000 Sigma 50-500
800ISO F8 @ 180th second.
60% of full frame. Levels

You have certainly overcome any difficulties that may have been there. This is just lovely. Great softness to the colors, then tack sharp bird and prey. The light is falling perfectly over the head and face of the bird. A real winner in my opinion.

Lovely! Next time maybe you'll get the trout trying to get the mayfly, too! This is a wonderful photo! Sharon

I think the correct expression is: picture perfect! Very pleasing to look at John, and the double catch is a real bonus, you must be very pleased with this one :^)

A super shot John. The bird is tack and so are the flys. Love the overall composition with all the leaves and branches seeming to fall into place. Well done.

Thanks all for your comments. They are appreciated. When I first looked at this I though this will attract a lot of "messy background " comments so I am pleasantly surprised by the response.
It is I suppose, depicting the very way we usually see these birds and the woodland they breed in.

If your Old World warblers are as active as our New World species, you had a challenge all right. A lovely capture, good detail and fine techs.

Nice setting, prey in the mouth, everything nice and sharp. Doesn't get much better than that.
