Silver Lake

On a family trip to Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Michigan, I made my dad stop the truck near a bunch of stumps so I could take this picture.

This was taken with my Nikon D70 in auto mode and this is the image straight off the camera.

I would love feedback on what you think

I like your comp with the off-center tree and the way it extends into the sky to better fill the frame.

Erin,

Excellent composition and the use of the rule of thirds. I too like that the weathered and fallen stump extend up in to the sky doing a good job of tying the sky and sand together. Also, very lovely and warm lighting on the sand and stump.

The only criticism I have is saving this for the web. Quite a bit of compression or pixelating going on in the sky which is usually from a low quality jpg setting re-sizing for the web. Also, you have a little sensor dust that you should clone out in the sky. Otherwise, nice job with this capture.

The image printed looks so much better than the one on the computer I re-sized to upload. The sensor dust is an easy enough fix. Thank you for the comments. :jump:
