Baylands in Palo Alto is home to two kinds of orioles - here is the uncommon Hooded. I'll post the more common Bullock's later on.
They were tough to catch for me - they are quick, unpredictable, and love heavy shade.

A nice look at this species Sandy. I really like the oranges and the head turn. Open beak is always nice too.

You've made a really great job with the exposure on this one Sandy, I love the textures and details in that richly coloured plumage. Looking forward to seeing the Bullock's :^)

Beautiful colors of this oriole. I like his puffed up look and the head turn he gave you.

Great capture and fine work on the oranges and yellows. The silvery patch on the mandible is nicely exposed too; I blow that every time. I hadn't known Hooded's range extended as far north as San Francisco Bay. Cool.

Excellent pose Sandy, beautiful shot. Love the bright colors of the bird against the muted background. The feather detail is incredible.

We have them here in AZ but I've not gotten any shots I like of them, even with a large crop. Exposure an detail in this looks very good.
