Morning in the Dolomites

An early morning in Alpe di Siussi in the Italian Dolomites. The clouds came drifting in as the sun was rising. I was attracted to the combination of the big mountains in the background (Sasso Lungo) and the clouds and mist and the semitransparent mist that allowed the view of the small huts.

Wonderful soft mood here, Hans. Exposure is just right and fog, for me, is often tricky. The layering and varying density of fog gives a very pleasant morning feel. :wavey:

Hans,

I see this is your first post here so I would like to welcome you to NPN and the Landscape/ESS Gallery. What a wonderful, quiet and moody first post. This is just beautiful. The huts are shown nicely and I like the repeating pairs heading in to the distant fog. However, it's because of the huts (hand of man) that I will be moving this to the Man & Nature gallery after posting my comment. Sorry to do this on your first post, hope you understand.

Welcome aboard and we look forward to your images and participation in the forums and galleries!

Very ethereal Hans. I especially like the light and muted colors which add to the dreamy feeling and sense of tranquility. Beautiful work and also welcome to NPN.

This is beautiful, with the bright light on the foreground, the layers of clouds and the distant peaks. The layers seem to go on forever.

Welcome to NPN Hans. Your first post set a high standard. I like the feeling of comfort I get from the fog, light and composition. well done, and look forward to more.

Thanks everybody. I didn't notice there was a man and nature category which is fine, although for me this is a landscape shot.

And thanks for all the welcome postings too :) I haven't posted here before as mentioned, but I have posted many other places ;)

Beautiful light Hans - and you have the huts very nicely aligned! Welcome to NPN - I also got caught out by the different gallery distinctions with one of my first posts ;-)

Beautiful shot! The light, colors and comp are all so nice, but what I like most of all is the wonderful mood that goes with this.
Welcome to NPN Hans!

Welcome. The bands of fog are in great position to allow important elements appear through. This has a nice flow among the layers of fog. Well done.
