Here's the next in my series as I learn some of Harold Davis' techniques. Thanks for your previous comment on the pansies. I appreciate them all and know you deep down really love that rim of the bowl. :jump: I'm still thinking and trying some alternate solution for the BG but nothing has caught my fancy as yet.
I generally don't like white BGs but in this case of the Pahl I think there is enough going on throughout the image that the white on white works. I purposefully left the infloresence in to provide an anchor.
I woud appreciate all your comments.

Bob:
I do like this high key image a lot. The definition of the white petals is great and the colors in the center of the blooms really shine in the sea of white.

Not sure about the stem though. Also there are dust specks near the RLC, center of left second and petal of left 3rd from top blooms which tend to pop in this almost totally white image.

Bob,

The stem doesn't work for me. For my tastes, everything else is drop dead gorgeous. I love what you're doing with this technique.

A version without stem plus cleaned up dust spots.

Minus the stem, this is pure perfection, Bob ! Wonderful gradations in the shadows on the petals and a deliciously eye-catching array of centres. Superb technique and execution.

This is gorgeous - I love the hi key processing. I think I like the second version even better. Superb work.

The white background works beautifully in this image. The only thing I am ambivalent about is the stem.

I vote for the original image with the stem. The repost without stem is like a bunch of single flower put together. The stem in original image is somehow leding me to these beautiful flowers. I'm sorry but the repost doesn't work for me.

Bob, this is one of the best orchid High-Key that I have seen. I love the soft shadow left on the right side and the rhythm created by the centers of the flowers. Beautiful.
Take care.
