Moose Falls, YNP
by Rohn B. McKee
Yellowstone National Park looked like February the first of June. The snow banks along the side of the road were 5 feet tall. Lucky Moose falls is a little warm and thawed out.
Look forward to honest strong critique of this image. Thanks in advance.

3 commentsHard to believe there was that much snow. Well, actually this year it's not so unbelievable. But you've managed not to have that as an issue in this image for sure.
I really like the main falls here; the water is clean and flowing nicely with just the right hint of texture and color. Unfortunately the image loses it's strength as you go away from the central fall. If you are able to bring out some more detail on the left that may change things a bit. But as presented.... wait! I just looked at the larger version and there is detail there! Still a little on the dark side, but my mind is changed a little after seeing the larger version. I actually have a bit more favorable view now. Still, I think it could be stronger. I like the light, moss and color on the right, but it pulls me away from the falls and competes with the falls. I might consider cropping that out entirely - OR crop significantly from the left and make the image about the falls and the right side. As it is now, there's competing details to the left and right of the falls, AS WELL as the treeline up top. There's a case where I either want to see more sky and trees, or not at all.
I'll still stand with my original impression that I like the falls the best. How about cropping equally from the left and right for a square presentation? I think that might be a stronger comp and presentation. Hopefully we'll get some others to weigh in.
