In the last years I've been working hard to photograph these cliffs, and as I am recently
prepare some postcards and canvas for a client I appreciate ypur feedback in some of my work from those cliffs.

Please take a look at the larger version.

NOTE: The image you see at left "Spring Gold" from talented photograher Helio Cristovão is in the same beautiful cliffs. Take a look at his vision of the place.

I really like this photo ... color contrasts are great! It definable conveys the mood I think you were going after. Did you take it wide angle? Would be interested to see how it looked landscape width.

Amazing overall - well done!

You sure produce some striking seascapes Pedro and this is no exception. I really like everything about this except for two points. The horizon has quite a bit of distortion, often it doesn't bother me but it does here, perhaps because the other elements accentuate it or the fact that the distortion is not symmetrical. The other issue is that the foreground is so bright in comparison to the sky that it distracts me. Or vice versa that the sky is too dark compared to the foreground. Part of this may be to do with the vignetting too. Overall a wonderful shot but I just a couple of things that bother me which are amenable to processing issues.

This seems very abstract, Pedro, and a very interesting way of presenting a nature image. The combo of static and moving elements makes for a very dynamic scene.

The long exposure and colors are beautiful here Pedro. The only nit from me is that the vignette is a little strong for my taste.

This is beautiful and artistically crafted. Well done, light and shadow playing along the cliffs.

Only nit for my taste, though easily to correct, would be the barrel distortion; should this be your personal interpretation, I just stick with it, all other elements really make this image a stunner!

Mark,

Yes, this one was wide open, 17mm and on the cliffs limit. A little bit risky as these cliffs are sand made and in constant erosion, certainly a dangerous place to be.

Kah,

Thanks for your nice critique. Yes, I have to rework that distortion on the horizon and maybe I'll try another version without less vignetting.

Koveh,

I'm a prisioner of vignetting in a lot of my work, maybe it's part of my personal style.

The lack of scale makes the foreground very interesting and I like the strong vignetting which creates a spot-like effect. I'm not thrilled about the curvature of the horizon, but I guess this is a creative decision of yours.

I would agree that while wide angle distortion is unavoidable, the asymetrical bend is a little distracting and doesn't let me appreciate the rest of the image as much. A slight correction might be an improvement. The vantage point makes me a little dizzy but a good thing. Great lighting and motion of the surf and clouds. :toast:

Very good image Pedro. Lots of drama in the sky and the cliffs compliment the sky nicely. I agree with the other comments about this appearing almost as an abstract image, since there is nothing to give a sense of scale to the foreground. I like this effect since it keeps the eye/mind engaged in the image. I would fix the horizon as suggested and then I feel you will have a winner.

What strikes me the most here is how deceiving the foreground is. It's quite hard to judge its real scale. Other than this, I like the sureal interpretation and the colors. A beautiful, almost abstract, work.

Beautiful capture Pedro - it's really interesting to see the different takes from you and Helio, and the different styles. This is very powerful, and I love that FG.

Pedro,

I find this fascinating and I think I echo many of the other opinions here. The sense of scale - or lack of, really makes this intriguing and keeps me looking. The only concern I have is the distortion on the horizon. Otherwise, yet another unique and effective seascape from you.

Incredible place. Would fix the lens distortion and tilt to the horizon but pretty awesome photo. Where!?

Aaron,

This shot was taken on Galé Beach, Melides in Portugal. If you plan to visit my country please let me know. I'll trade for a travel to Kauai

I really like the lack of scale in this image. Nice light and colors, too.

Really dynamic and a great looking image. The sky and water really look nice together and a wonderful mood captured. I would prefer the horizon being level, but this is fantastic as is. :toast:

I like it quite a bit aside from the horizon distortion, already remarked upon quite a bit by the others. Just for the heck of it, I'll also suggest changing the title if you intend to market this as a postcard . . . some folks may not want to send their loved ones "a message from hell."

Amazing composition!!! I see for the first time such an unusual combination of land, sky and sea in a single photo.
