Amazing what exists in nature so darn tiny you would miss it in a blink. This I assume is a baby tree frog or toad. (anybody know?) I had to be so very careful handling it as it was only 1/8" or so small. I thought a penny would be a good gauge to show the size but the colors were too close so I used a dime. i released him out back. This is about 50%crop
Canon 1DMIII
Sigma 150 mm 2.8
No time for the tripod so I upped the ISO
ISO 800 f9@1/320

I like this a lot - the dime gives it great scale and the placement next to "In God We Trust" is fitting. It's almost certainly not a toad (once they leave the water they don't tend to stay in upland. Doesn't look like a tree frog either (which would probably be more "plump" and have more pronounced suckers on their "feet" and "hands". It may be something akin to a Spring Peeper which would be this small. . .

Neat image! (Is the lens you used a macro lens? Considering getting one myself) Not sure what frog this is but I could go along with spring peeper. Thanks for sharing.

I'm no help with the ID, Cheryl. Never have seen any frog or toad this small. What are of the country? Florida?

Excellent use of the dime to give scale, this little froggy must've just made the transition to land..So tiny :)
Interesting & creative comp with great details at the head Cheryl..
Looks like the president wins by a "nose"
Well done! :toast:
PS - Probably a Southern Leopard Frog, they're the most common..

Cheryl:
Very good idea to use the dime to give scale to this creature. We have a very small variety of a brown tree frog in HK as well which is slightly bigger than this one measuring around 1 cm.
