Eva's Falls-Sonora Pass

This is an older image that I recently reworked, so I thought I'd post it for your thoughts and comments.

I named this small waterfall for Eva Sheike, a California Department of Forestry fire fighter who died in the line of duty on a wildfire.

I am quite partial to this spot, and have made several images there. I have another from later that same summer that I will post soon.

Tachihara 4x5
Nikkor 90mm
Astia 100F

Many thanks for your comments,

Preston,

Very nice and I think it's perfectly appropriate to name landmarks for fallen firefighters who died in the line of duty, protecting the wilderness. With the just the rock, it has a singular tone, but great rocks and shutter speed on the water.

Wonderful intimate view Preston of a meaningful place. While not a dramatic scene, the details of the rocks and water flow are beautiful. A beautiful dedication to Eva Sheike, a person of courage and dedication.

The details in the rocks and the flow in the falls are terrific. I like the quiet beauty as it is, but I'd also be tempted to crop some of the foreground rocks to emphasize the falls more.

Very nice Preston, I'll bet the water covers most of the rocks this year. To me it feels like it needs a little more "punch" although the water in spots would probably blow out. I'll be in your neck of the woods on Tue, maybe we can get together. :toast:

That's a wonderful way to dedicate Eva's memory Preston. Great falls, and I love the detail in the rock. It looks like there is a bit of cyan in some areas of the water. (It really doesn't look too bad, except that there are abrupt transitions in some places.)

Wonderful textures both in the rocks and water, Preston. To me the colors seem a bit flat, but I know that just from seeing the "normal" saturation folks add to their images here.

Preston, I like this picture, it just seems to work very well for me. The detail is fantastic. I also like your idea and reason for naming it like you did. :toast:

I've seen this before, but this looks very nice here, except for the cyan that John mentioned. I love the tones and contrast.

Thank you for your comments everyone.

I thought I would note that the water was truly greenish and I actually had to desaturate it just a bit.

I will take a look at the contrast and color of the rocks.

Thanks again,
