Sedge Warbler

This is a reworked image that I originally posted back in 2008, I wasn't very happy with the final web image when I first posted it 3 years ago, so I have had another go at the processing, what do you think?.

1/3200th @ f5.6 -1/3rd iso200 ( 80% of FF and 2 distracting reeds blended in )

Please view the large version.

Thanks for looking.

I don't recall the original Andy but I really love this one. The bird really pops from the background and that background is superb, just enough detail to show the environment but smooth enough not to distract from the bird. There is a bit of a distraction going on near the bottom third of the stem directly below the bird. Is this the blending you mentioned (or just wind)?

Thanks for the feedback, Robert. Yes, in the area of the image you mention there was a reed stem that was in full focus and it spoilt the shot, so I have tried to blend it into the BG.

looks really nice to me Andy. I like the colour and the movement of the reeds in the background.

I can see why you've come back to this image, Andy. That background is excellent, the reeds look like they're embossed onto the backdrop. Great stuff :toast: The only improvement for me would be if you could you brighten the bird up a little so it 'pops' a little more. Personal preference though.
Nice one.

Works fine for me Andy,
I like that the unsharp reeds and the bird have a direction to the right
and the stem under the bird to the left.
Excellent composition.

This really works Andy.

Simple yet strong composition. The viewers eye goes straight to the subject. Nice tones and background.

It works for me.

Cheers
