There were literally thousands of these dragons at the nearby marsh . . . was tough to decide which one to photograph. I would like to try getting there very early one morning when they are hopefully covered in dew or the lighting is better as it's not easy coming up with a creative way to shoot these bugs.

Nikon D300s 105mm VR HH
f/7.1
1/1000s
ISO 400

Full Frame, minor adjustments in CS5 on 27" iMac

Tastefully done, Luke with sky as the backdrop. If it was possible at all, you could have come parallel to the body of the dragon completely.

Like that sky BG and POV with the face & thorax sharp and clear..You're exactly right, hard to come up creative ways to shoot em', all you can do is concentrate of the tech side & hope for the best
Well done Luke.

Luke:
Good looking image and sharp where it counts. I always look around for the nicest df with pristine wings settling on a nice perch but sometimes you just have to settle with one that is easy to frame with clean bg and shoot without getting your shoes wet.
