American Dipper w/breakfast

We had a few days in Glacier National Park last week, and I had a blast shooting Dippers at McDonald Creek. It's pretty easy to shoot them there this time of year. They're constantly moving between nest and foraging spots to feed their young, so you just need to plop yourself down in an area they're foraging, and they're very likely to return. They definitely weren't shy either, as at times, this guy was foraging within the minimum focusing distance of my lens.

Canon 50D, 400 5.6L, ISO 800, 1/160, f6.3, 430EX @ -1 2/3. Very slight crop from right and bottom.

With that mouthful, it's going to have some happy babies, Terry. Excellent job.

Wow! that is getting close, with the attendant detail in the bird, prey, and habitat. :toast:

I like this a lot Terry, only partly because of my jealousy (a nemesis bird for me, taken in one of my favorite places on earth). Excellent detail and I love the bugs. Fairly tight but it sure shows off the detail.

What a mouthful he has. Lots of nice detail. He's obviously very intent on his task, but I wish he'd given you a little more eye contact.

Great catch, Terry. These little guys have been tough for me to get, although I haven't tried too hard. Glacier is probably my favorite place anywhere......especially Many Glacier. We were up there last week for just the day and drove back home......nice to have it close. Anyway, great detail and closeup shot.....well done.
