Ocean Point Sunset

Ocean Point, Boothbay Maine. This is usually a place I take sunrise images, but in November 2009 I decided to see what sunset was like a little up the road from where I take my sunrise scenes. The Maine coast is tortuous and in many places you can catch both sunrise and sunset within 2 miles. This is at high tide. Last year was a blur for many reasons and I never got back here but it is definitely on my list for this November. The tides here are between 10 - 12 feet in general. At low tide this vista is more bland. In the summer this area is usually socked in fog because of the warm air conflicting with the COLD water ~ 80+F air vs. 50F water. I don't think I have ever posted this here, so thought I would find out what you folks think. It is a little different for me.

Thanks for looking and appreciate any comments and critiques.

Sunset, coastal Maine. That gives a much better perspective for what this coast must be like. Very nice light. Foreground pools has a nice sense of mystery and fascination.

Thanks Tony. I like to explore the tidal pools at mid and low tide too. A lot to explore here. BTW - I did reprocess this image from the original TIFF with your TK Darks Triple action tonight. Thanks again.

Neat! I like it--cool diaganols leading to the sun, and the pool has some wicked irridescence to it. The contrast or sharpening looks a tiny bit heavy--but its close. Nice.
I got my 24mm TS! will break it in tomorrow

I love this one, Eva. Great foreground detail and a beautiful sky. Intersting composition and good color in the sky.

Your work does the Maine coast proud. One of the only places other than Alaska that I'd like to live. Nicely done.

Eva, I especially enjoy the subsurface structures in the pool. The sunstar is a nice counterpoint for me.

Contrast looks a bit harsh, at least viewing on my monitor.

Very nice Eva, Beautiful sky and the sun looks great. I really like the foreground pool and all the nice texture in the rocks. As mentioned the contrast / sharpening looks just a bit off, but still a wonderful shot. A beautiful place!

And yet, still as good as a sunrise. Just as beautiful as your typical shots, Eva. Well done.

The sky is beautiful but that lovely sheen of water over the fg rocks is the exceptional part. Love the colors and textures.

Looks like a lovely spot to watch a sunset. I really like the green and orange in the foreground pool. The colors in the sky and the starburst sun are also good. I find the very high contrast in the rocks distracting.

Hi Eva - the foreground is really interesting - cool rocks. I also like the sunstar - it is a perfect size because it is enough to be interesting but not overwhelming. Very nice work.
