Iridescent

Gallery: FloraPosted July 9, 2011156 views25 comments
Do iridescent flowers have more pollinating power? Researcher Sylvia Vigonili, of Cambridge university discovered that many flowers exhibit iridescence in 2009. I think many floral photog already knew this for a long time.

Lotus taken 3 weeks ago. I darkened the background and the flower seems to radiate light on its own.

D90 300mm F8 1/200sec tripod. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

Spectacular Gary!! The lighting and colors are top-notch on this one!
Only thing I wish is that pad edge didnt intrude into the lower left petal edge.

Man, this looks like it was an infrared or ultraviolet shot. Nature doesn't really do colors like this...does it? This is fabulous with the colors and textures and details. WOW!

I tried and tried to grow a lotus when we had our koi pond and never succeeded. This remiinds me of the luminous beauty they posess! An epic capture Gary :toast:
