Iceland

Icebergs on the black volcanic sand beach, and stormy Icelandic weather created a great time and place to be for some good photography. I took over 50 shots of this setting to make sure I stopped all the movement at least on one of them.

Love this one Tomas. The wave exploding on the ice is a real bonus. The B&W processing looks excellent as well.

Great shot Tomas, love the fact that you used BW, is different and beautiful, what else you would expect from iceland than ice...

The ice is wild--love that! The waves play a nice supporting role here--although personally i dont care for the dandelion-wave look that you get from a certain range of exposures--makes the waves look too soft...but its not too bad here. Sky is nice too--a great scene for a photo! :wavey:

I'm glad to see you back around here, Tomas. I've seen this one before and I guess already told you how much I like it. The foreground is nice, but the action in the waves and the tonality there is just amazing.

The contrast looks amazing here. The waves have the right shutter speed. The b&w processing looks excellent here.

this is great, Tomas. I like your shutter speed effect on the waves here and the detail in the ice. I would prefer to see some detail in the sand though (which could be tough, depending on how black the sand is!), as the lack of detail almost makes the icebergs seem as if they are floating in space, and not a part of the rest of the scene.

Tomas, your image is really exciting for me, I especially admire the tremendous contrast between the ice and the volcanic sand. The b&w conversion aptly reflects this specific atmosphere to me.

The contrast between black sand and ice is terrific. The frozen water motion suits the feel of the image too. Great job with this.

That is really neat, Tomas. The bergs on the black sand would be enough, but then the waves and the clouds create additional interest. Really nice all around. Missed seeing your images here.

Great image, Tomas. A very interesting collection of elements within the frame... lots to explore. The fg ice looks like it's floating in space.. quite surreal really. Fabulous processing and I like the blue toning that suits the mood.

Just a beautiful shot. The wave action looks about perfect. On my monitor, the FG darks look black to me, so I would prefer to see a little more exposure here. The diamond like ice look so solid and contrast well with the movement of the ocean. A moody sky as well, your patience was well worth it.

Other then being able to see just a touch more detail in the black sand, this is just perfection Tomas. Absolutely outstanding BW.

Tomas - this is stunning - only just seen it - the composition, the light, the sense of movement - everything seems perfect! Your name and your work seems to ring a bell - would I be right in thinking you were featured in Outdoor Photography (a UK mag) in the last few years? Could have this entirely wrong - but great work! ;-)
