Great Grey Owl

This is another picture of the great gray that was so cooperative. While he was looking for a meal he would sometimes glance up at us to see what we were doing. Whenever he did glance up I just let my camera go crazy, because the light was getting lower and I knew that I should probably do that so I would have a better chance at more sharp pictures than one blurry picture.

I like this image because of his pose, and I love how bright his eyes are!

Nikon D300
Tamron SP 70-210mm LD f/2.8 @ 210mm
ISO 640
1/160sec @ f/2.8 (for higher shutter speeds without a higher ISO)

Nice job, Jenaya. I like all the way the trees in the bg work with the shadings of the owl.

Very pleasing image. The stare of the owl is great. If this were mine, I'd think about bringing the brightness of the background tree on the left down. It tends to really grab my eyes away from the subject.

Nice sharp portrait, Jenaya. I find the color in the body interesting.........looks kind of maroonish where I am used to seeing purely gray patterns......maybe it is my monitor?

Excellent eye contact and detail in the bird is very good. I find the background distracting however and would try and darken it some. Then again, I don't have an owl image and I would be delighted to own this one.
