great ones, for me is little bit disturbing over bright spots on their necks and aura around dark body parts, love the pose and light here, thank you for sharing :wavey:

Hi Malcolm,

The very slight processing nit re the halo aside, I think you have done well here, the whites have just about been held in what looks like tricky light and you have some good detail in the blacks with both eyes clearly visible. Given the lighting conditions I would have probably under exposed a touch, maybe -1/3rd or 2/3rds, but no big deal as it's still a good Razor shot.

I use a d300 and virtually allways under expose by 1 third for this i would have gone 2 thirds. Bet it needed a bit of recovery. Also could have dropped the iso down, 200 would have been fine in that light. i find the d300 needs noise reduction post production at 400. This is why i don't record techs ,,, people get all technical   Not criticising the shot though just something to try next time out. I really like the comp and simple bold colours. Better than the razorbills i got in skomer this year. :toast: :toast:

Looks pretty good to me Malcolm.
Did you use the HD light setting at all for the blacks ? I,m still playing with it, but on the D7000 it can work wonders on dark areas. There's some eye detail their too which doesn't always come out.
Nice shot anyway.
Don't get many of these in the forest
Cheers

exposure looks good and I like the blue sea in the background. I can see a slight halo around the blacks, but still an attractive image.

I always find the exposure tricky on these, but you have done well here.
