Vast Land

One of the things I expected to see in Tanzania was the Serengeti stretched out far in front of me. The feeling of vastness was breathtaking, but difficult to capture. The quiet of the land when noone else is around was humbling, and almost made you hold your breath.

I think you did a great job with this capture Margaret. The trees are stunning and you spaced them out quite nicely. Overall, I like the composition a lot. I think you could improve this image with more tweaking of the colors. They looked somewhat muted on my monitor. Also, the scene (maybe just the sky) seems too dark. Hopefully that helps. Sorry I can't be more specific. It looks like an incredible place.

There is a sense of depth and vastness in your image thanks to the trees, and I really like the sky with the clouds all over it.
I think the only way to enhance the feeling of vastness would be to photograph from a higher point, which I can imagine is hard to find out here? ;-)

I like the scene here and the sense of vastness. Nice composition, too. The colors look somehow weird on my monitor.

Hi. I'm wondering about the color abberations you have mentioned in comments. I did darken the sky a bit with a layer mask. the colors were kind of muted all throughout the Serengeti. This day a storm was clearing from an overnight rain. This was taken about 2:30pm (if I got my conversion right).
I'm including the original file here with just the usual ACR processing. Does it look any different on your screens? Did I introduce a color cast with the layer mask processing?
