I searched all over the internet to find the name of this tree/flower and as best as I can tell it's called a Golden Shower Tree.

Thanks so much for all your comments on my last post.. I'm really learning a lot here! And you've all been so kind and welcoming.

So, what are your thoughts on this one? :wavey:

I have looked at this image several different ways. It is a different comp. I think I would crop from the right to the three blossom pods in a vertical line. the color is nice. It looks like the main blossom is just a tad soft.

Very pretty, Sarah  - the hint of blue in the sky goes well with the yellows. Did you think of presenting this rotated 90 deg anti clockwise ? May look as good that way also.

Sarah: I like your DOF/POF choice and the subject matter. I like this orientation as is. I do prefer the larger version for its greater detail but also because of the gray bounding frame that gives the image a defined right edge. Here where the shot bleeds into the surround I feel like I can't tell where the image ends. If this were mine I would either put a 1 pixel stroke around the frame or perhaps select a very light colored BG frame. With all that said its still a pretty small nit and only detracts very minimally. Well seen and captured. >=))>

I like the way the flowers fill the frame to the R and the buds loom up from the distance on the L, Sarah - it's a good composition. I only wonder if the flower centres might benefit from a touch of sharpening, as the front bud in the top centre draws the eye from them a bit ?

Sarah,

I like the suggestion to sharpen the yellow centers some. I like your design for the composition but the blurred elements seem to take on their own life to me and become sort of a second image. So, I'm in favor of the crop. This is all very subjective of course. (smile)

I've returned to this image no less than 5 times, and as this is all subjective, I really like what you have done here. The use of negitive space adds a sense of mystery to me. There is one small blue dot just off the right end that I would be tempted to get rid of, but, I like this effect you've projected.

Sarah:
This is a very interesting image. I have looked at this for sometime and have mixed ideas. Overall I like the image as posted but I can also see many possibilities for cropping. Like Pat, I get the sense there are two images here and may be the reason for the tension here. Although I like the yellow blooms, my eyes keep getting distracted by the blur buds and brighter lights on the right - so I am in favor of a crop.

Thanks for all your feedback! Lots of different views on this one!

In the repost.. I sharpened the main flowers and removed the "blue dot" and cropped a little.. still not sure if I like the crop or not. What do you think? :wavey:
