Soft

Photo of a poppy taken in the corn field behind my garden. Softness was my aim so I shot through the corn that was swaying in the wind, trying to keep the focus on the - also moving - poppy. A brief moment of almost stilness resulted in this shot.

Nikon D300, Nikkor AF-S VR 300mm f/2,8, hand-held
ISO 400, f/5,0, 1/320

I like this well enough; the colors match well and there is enough detail in the poppy to satisfy. There is also a lot of wasted canvas, which diminishes the subject's command of the image.

Thank you Phil, for your comment. The 'wasted space' was intentional, I wanted to give the poppy some space to look into, as it were. And I liked the subtle color differences in the corn enough to make it a large canvas. To me, making the image square just isn't the same, but I suppose that's taste. Thanks again for your comment, much appreciated!

I love this shot. The poppy seems sharp, and the beautiful textures left by the waving corn stalks give it a very appealing, dreamy quality. I like the open space around the poppy too. I wouldn't change a thing! Very nicely done, Ingrid. Very creative, too.

Ingrid:
Its nice to get re-acquainted with your image again. Lovely poppy framed by the soft pastel. Like it as posted!

Beautiful shot! The wash is excellent and the space around the flower works in my opinion. Wonderful hues and detail as well. Nicely done.

This is beautifully executed Ingrid. Almost looks like a textured composite, but much nicer  The extra space around the image works very well here, no nits whatsoever.

Ingrid: After looking at Soft II I had to take a look at the first. This is beautiful and here the negative space on the right works pretty well for me since the flower is "looking" that way. Good vision, good photography. >=))>

I love this image, its softness and muted colors. The large canvas does not bother me at all.

Oooh, I'm loving this! Absolutely beautiful - definitely needs to be printed large and hung proudly on the wall.
