I can Fly

Caught this fledgling skimmer the other day while shooting with friends. He was the biggest of the bunch yet seen. I was pretty excited to get this one in flight especially the way he almost seems to be looking at me. Removed a partial wingtip from the adult flying with him. 90% or so of full frame
Canon 1DMIII
300 mm 2.8L lens
ISO 400 7.1 @1/2500 HH
C&C always welcome

Wow, perfect detail!!! and a great view of the topside.
A lighter head than I've seen..maybe a juvenile?
Nice eye contact, good wing position - and that breaking wave behind is unique.
Way to go! Excellent!

Thanks Sandy . Yes I'm thinking almost juvenille as the others are right behind him yet not flying just yet.

Very cool, Cheryl. That angle almost makes it look like you were using a wide angle lens. I love the angle you got on it. Excellent image.

Cheryl, I like the pose showing the top pattern of the wing on this young Skimmer and the background with what I think is a small wave really displays the environment. A winner.

Great image, Cheryl. I really love the flight shape of that far wing and I've never seen a photo of this bird with so distinct view of it's bill. Thumbs up for an excellent image.

Very nice timing to get this flight shot, I like seeing the wave behind, the shadow below and how the wing color goes from black to white. Good detail and eye contact on the larger version, excellent shot, the larger image was a pleasure to view.

Outstanding shot, Cheryl. A sharp, well-posed flight shot where you manage to capture the bird seeming to look at you is a special accomplishment.
