Lewis's Woodpecker

I was able to get a better image of this Woodpecker this morning in the BC Okanagan Valley, after a 3 year search. It's a shame though that I only had about 20 minutes with the pair.

Thanks for looking; it's a laptop processed image from a 1D Mk IV and 500mm + 1.4X lens, ISO800, f8, hand-held from car window, morning light, etc.

You took advantage of the short time you had, KC. Great head turn and catching the iridescence, too. Wish I could have gotten to the PNW tourney you just played in........maybe next year.

Lovely image. The burgundy facial coloring is very nice and you have captured the iridescence on the back. 3 Years is a long time.

KC your persistence paid off this is a beautiful image. Love the detail and the iridescence in the feathers on the back. Where abouts in the Okanagan did you find this bird?

Beautiful, Kwan. I really like the way the light brings out the iridescence in the feathers.
