I saw this Magpie Shrike fly to a perch near the road with something in it's mouth. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be a field rodent. The shot was taken early morning just after sun up in the Kruger National Park. I was trying to keep the ISO as low as possible while still achieving a reasonable shutter speed.

Camera Model Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
Shooting Mode Manual Exposure
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/800
Av( Aperture Value ) 7.1
Metering Mode Spot Metering
ISO Speed 640
Auto ISO Speed ON

Very interesting image. I do not recall ever seeing a photo of one of these before. It looks like the shrike has a bone along with the rodent. You have captured the moment well. Thanks for shairng.

Really great image. You got the entire tail-must have been tough, given the length. Excellent detail. I like the lighting.

Great light, Neal. That's one long tail-good job keeping it all in the frame.
