Yes, another one. Taken a couple of weeks ago. I do wish I'd had a bit more dof.

1DMkIV, 500mm f4 IS + 1.4TC, Black widow on Gitzo legs, f7.1, 1/4000, iso 1000, Av mode with -1/3 compensation. Normal processing in CS4, Cropped to 11.2 MP. Taken at 7:00 pm on July 1st.

I always appreciate your comments and criticisms.

Thanks for looking,

DOF looks ok to me Dennis. Nice pose, eye contact. The BG is a little busy but you can't chose that. The two little flowers to the left are in focus which I think adds to the photo. Nice job Dennis.

Nice proud pose there Dennis, I like the way the tail feathers are displayed. Very well done as usual.

Dof looks great for the bird itself Dennis imho. Really outstanding alert pose and head turn, catchlight too. Love the little mauve flowers. Any more dof might cause some problems with the patterned background. Under appreciated species, wish we had them in my area.

I'd be so happy with everything here. I understand you wish for somewhat better DOF, but i think this is fine as it.

Hi Dennis,

I would love have this one in my files. I think if you had more dof the background would be even more distracting (which it insn't to my eyes). The bird is supuer sharp and well exposed, the little flowers are a wonderful addition. Sweet photo!!!

Lovely shot Dennis, I think you nailed it in terms of depth of field, I think I would have used a lower iso and shutter speed here but the image quality looks good. :toast:

Really nice goldfinch picture and overall composition with the branches and purple flowers, the yellows on the goldfinch look good and not over saturated and the image is sharp where it needs to be, nice job in getting this, way to go.
