Columbian Lily Tandem

Found a nice spot along the American River last weekend that had a generous variety of Lily's, Thimbleberry blossoms and Wild Rose. I had to look these up in the field guide and found them listed as Columbian Lily's, Oregon Lily's or sometimes Tiger Lily's. These two sibling's caught my eye. If you look close at the large version you can see a spider behind the stem at the top of the right bloom. I have some tighter shots of the spider I might post later.
Thanks for looking.

Spectacular color, great sharpness on the two blooms.

This is really fine work Bruce. Your pov, dof and plane of focus control are perfect for my tastes. I might tone down the brightness of the green bg a little - either by darkening, desaturating or taking some of the yellow out of it - or maybe a light combination of all three. As fine as your separation is, right now I still think the bg competes with the subject. A very fine image as posted.

Bruce,

Usually images with this much negative space, just don't work. However in this image it's not the case. So it was a inspired choice to include both blossoms. The blooms are so bright, I don't know if I agree that the bg is a little to bright. I think it's personal taste.

Very nice image. The stems leads my eyes to the flowers and the flowers stand out nicely from the background.

Bruce: Excellent plane of focus management and a fine BG. I also like the symmetry of the comp. I can see where Pat is coming from on the BG brightness and think his suggestion would work well but I do like this as is. Nicely done.>=))>

Hi Bruce :wavey: The color, detail, and light on those Lilys is beautifully done :jump: Being small as they are, i agree with Pat, about toning down .or softining the bg a bit, to keep our attention on those spectacular Lilys

These flowers are separated out from the bg superbly, Bruce. Beautiful colouring and sharpness make for a very fine image.
