Ruby Storm

Hello Everyone,

This is an image of Ruby Beach right after a storm. I had not really pre-visualized this one as the rainbow was a surprise and the composition may suffer a bit but I am hoping the extra atmosphere helps out(I cloned out the unicorn as not to stretch credulity).

Any comments or criticisms are always appreciated.

Canon 5d MK II, 16-35 L - Double process of the same raw file.

Thanks for looking :)

Very cool seascape Shaun. The composition is actually improved by the rainbow in my opinion as it would have been an otherwise empty area of the photograph. Beautiful sky to boot...great shot!

Shame about the unicorn, was it majestically perched on the foremost rock?

At least it wasn't this little guy...

Nicolaus, Thankfully this unicorn was much more benign than the bad unicorn depicted in this hilarious video :)

Thanks Marc,

I actually took this on the same trip in which I was on your excellent Olympic Photo tour.

Wow! This is super good! Love the wave action in the foreground and not to mention the drama in the background.

A beautiful scene Shaun. The wave motion is fantastic for a foreground.. in fact my only nit with this is that you did not include more of it. perhaps in transition to some sand, but that is minor. The colors and atmosphere look excellent.

Hello Koveh,

I do have an alternate with some beach. I am not sure the foreground is as strong though as I kinda like the movement.

Let me know what you think.

Nice capture. I especially like the way the various arcs from the wave action to the clouds to the rainbow, work together.

The first one for me. Magical conditions and the water complements the sky perfectly.
