"Animated" Roadrunner

One more of the Greater Roadrunner, this time at ponds edge. Late yesterday afternoon. I've seen it stop and splay its wings in some neat displays, but haven't managed a good shot of the behavior yet..
Here it leaned back its head in a characteristic cuckoo way

That's also how they lean back before catching a hummingbird, so watch out for that!

Interesting position and nice setting.

Excellent ! Birds do funny things at water - some seem to go into a trance.
Good one.

Great pose on this one Howard. I like how well the roadrunner's head is separated from the background even though they both are such similar colors.

Great pose here so much nicer than a "standard" portrait.

It brings a smile to your face what more could you want?

"Cheeky" pose by this bird. Good catch. Bird feels just a bit dark to me. Might try bringing up the white, just a bit, and make him standing out more. You might try just 1-2% with the dodge tool over the chest area without lighting the entire image.

Great pose Howard, nice look that the eye and lovely sharpness. I might bring up the midtones ever so slightly in the birds plumage.

I didn't know that Roadrunners caught Hummingbirds!
