Birds Eye View

Checkered Setwing DF and female Painted Bunting.
These two were actually in the same frame on one occasion, but I missed the chance. So I've pasted in the DF were it should've been an instant earlier. I would wish for the bird to be looking upwards, but this closely imitates the shot I missed..

Looks as if the remaining life of the DF is barely seconds..
Since this is PA, I wouldn't hesitate to adjust the catchlight in the eye of the bird to make it seem as if he is eyeing the DF.
Bird and DF both sharp - nice image! The DF image looks good enough to stand on it's own, too.

Very nice, Howard. I'm fine with it as posted. Images of both bird and DF are sharp, detailed and colorful. Great bg. Fine paste job too.

Nice. But, if you pasted in the Dragon Fly, you might have just as well rotated the bird frame and cropped so that the bird was looking up. Neat anyway you present it.

Youssef,

You would have to explain to me how I would accomplish what you suggest.

In the original frame, the bird is in the extreme RT corner as you see it here. A rotation would not work in this case..

ORIGINAL without the dragonfly. Unprocessed and cropped to 3000x2000. I had two frames with the same BG & light, making it easier to accomplish this.
And as I said, this duplicated very closely the shot I missed. The bird was actually on the small branch as the DF when it attempted to land in front of it..
I considered leaving the small branch in to give the bird a "virtual" perch, but took it out. What do you think?

Looks like he is eyeing up his next meal. Very cool.

Nice composite. It's cool that you were able to reconstruct the scene that you missed. I especially like the sharpness and detail in the DF.

I like this. The df is sharp, detailed and looks to be in danger. It would add something if the bird was looking at the df or looking more aggressive but this is a really nice combination. BG is nicely blurred and complimentary.

I know the DF can't swivel its eyes, but it almost looks like it's doing a double-take here. Why does the DF only have 4 legs

Hi Tony,
If you look closely, you'll see the DF has its two front legs folded up near the head, in front of the thorax..
Will have to send ya back to DF school
