Spots in the shade...

We were very excited to encounter this magnificent Jaguar in the Pantanal, Brasil. I didn't even pay attention to my camera settings! When we saw the Jaguar for the first time, it was still in the deep shade of the forest. Later it came to the water and in the sunlight. I still had my ISO at 640 and exposure over-compensated. The result was that I had to do a lot of post-processing. But still I like the relaxed look on her face so much, so I decided to share it with you!

D300, Sigma 170-500@500. From a boat in full sunshine at 35 degrees Celcius. :wavey:

Glad you decided to post this ! Its a pleasure to see a wild cat pic any day. Yes, the accidental overexposure is unfortunate, but still this is a great record of what should have been an exciting sighting :toast:

A cat I wish I could see in the wild one day. You did well to retrieve enough detail in the end. Do you have any more where she perhaps was drinking? Or are they overexposed too?

Difficult exposure situation and your retrieval work is admirable. Great look at this elusive subject, however. What an experience!

In spite of the difficulties you encountered you have managed a nice image, under the circumstances I would have been very excited as well TFS
