Natural Formation

This composite started as a 10-image stack of a dry gourd I photographed indoors with halogen light. The final image here uses one version distorted and one not, masked and overlayed on a sunset from earlier this month, and a few geese thrown in to mess with the scale. Trying for a grand scale of a natural formation. Larger version included.

Thanks for looking, comments welcome and appreciated.

I couldn't resist showing another version with a snapshot my wife took of me walking around on this formation. Well, it was actually stolen from a snapshot taken on a trip to Montreal, Canada a couple of years ago....

Had me fooled until I read your intro. What an imagination you have and the skill to implement it. Well done!

Like the second version best Ron, your placement in the frame is perfect.
Gives this almost other worldly creation a grand scale :toast:

This is pretty cool. Looks like you're wandering around on the tail of some prehistoric monster.

Interesting image Ron. Has an abstract sort of feel for me. Well done!

Ron, this is wild, except the gourd reminds me of a giant squirming squid. The composite is beautiful, but somehow the texture of the gourd isn't quite right in my mind's eye. I think it's because the gourd looks so much like something from the ocean the way it glistens.

Keep playing.

Regards,

Carol

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Carol - This gourd was thrown outside by my wife and was exposed to the elements for nearly a year - which I think accounts for the odd texturing. My first impression when I was building this was "old excavated dinosaur bones." Jeremy - I agree, it was very abstract to me as well until I added the geese.
