Early opening

Roxborough State Park has a few early openings in the Summer to accomodate photogs and early risers. The gates are opened at 5 a.m. and allow enough time to try to find some comps before the sunrise. This is a well known view to visitors of the park. It is looking north from Fountain Valley Overlook.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

I love the warm light on the rock and the beautiful clouds. Great shot.

This is lovely, Morris. Those bright greens and the red rocks are a beautiful combination. The light and clouds add a lot to this scene, as well.

I can never keep track of their early opening days - I am glad that you were able to take advantage of it!

Beautifully taken Morris! Complimentary colors, tons of detail and textures, and amazing light. I'd clone out that rock near the yuccas...it pulls my eyes somewhat, but that's just me. A sweet image!

Really nice the way you were able to use the different foliage to create a visual line into the photo. The contrast in color is great.

Beautiful colors in this one Morris, and you captured some great clouds as well. I have yet to make it to one of these early openings. You will have to let me know the next time your going to shoot one!

That is a nice practice. Glad you took advantage and caught a few puffy clouds for your sky too. I could see making the foreground even a little more prominent, coming in tighter, but this way the gorgeous upper third is not overshadowed.

Sweet light, nice colors and fine sky. It all comes together rather nicely, Morris!

I saw this late last night, Morris but I was too tired to comment. I think what stands out to me here is the fact that despite the fact that the foreground is quite chaotic you were able to pull out a pleasing composition despite the many competing elements. This is something that I struggle with. The processing is excellent as usual.

Lots of nice stuff to enjoy here, and like Gary I find the color contrast to be a strong element of the presentation. The composition, as others have also noted, is quite effective. Fine work overall.

Love the light on the rocks and how the eye is drawn subtly up toward the rocks by the gentle contours and foliage in the foreground. Beautifully done.
