Re-work of an image posted last year sometime. I feel that this image now more reflects what I wanted to convey about this remarkable dawn at a local lake on the Olympic Peninsula a couple of springs ago. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
4x5, 75mm, Provia 100F

Large size image provided.

Thanks in advance for your comments, ideas, suggestions, critiques.

Very ethereal Vance! The dark corners on the left act as eye magnets..... but the yellow and purples in the center are just absolutely beautiful especially with the silhouetted, lace-like branches of the trees!.

Moody and compelling image!
I'm also drawn to the black left areas, and would probably crop tighter to get rid of them, if this were mine.
Love the lacey feel of the branches, and the mist with the distant mountains just barely visible.
Nice!

I would crop just a smidge off of the left side to eliminate the cut ulc by the tree, but otherwise this is a little bit of magic. I wonder if our connection to fog images where light is softly sifting through is so strong because it's a precursor to our crossing over? The colors and light are sublime, and the dark silouhettes are exquisite. And then the hint of the trees in the background reveal our destination. Love it!

Couldn't mistake that Provia 100F look! I like it just the way it is. Good work Vance!

I love it Vance. Agree on maybe cropping the left. The hint of lake is great.

Excellent job seeing this. The light is fantastic, but the branches make for a wonderful abstract frame. Agree that cropping the left is nice as it heightens the abstract quality of the image. Nicely done.

This is a really nice departure from what we often see from you, and it's awesome! I love the hauntingly peaceful (is that a thing?) feel this image has to it. I too would consider the idea about a crop from the upper left. :toast:

This is incredibly beautiful and serene. It's almost more a feeling than an image. I can't give higher praise than that.

Vance,

This is pure poetry in light. All I could wish for is that it was mine. Are you up for a print trade?

That glow is just amazing! Really beautiful image, Vance. I'm also with the left-hand croppers as the heavy silhouette conflicts with the ethereal nature of the image.

Nice one! :toast:

Spooky!
I don't know what I like better, the graduated colors or the delicate paisley like branches. Either way, it's sure original and unique!
Great mood!

What a peaceful and beautiful image you created, Vance. I can only imagine how wonderfully quiet and inspiring it was to be there in person.

Vance, a very moody photo. Simply exquisite and just enough warmth so that it doesn't feel to cold. I think you could crop the top and left side in equal amounts and come out fine to. Just a lovely shot!

wow, what a beauty! This is am image that speaks a lot to me - I love foggy conditions for photography. The branches framing this from each side almost are a major design element. Wonderful work!

I like the shadows on the left edge - helps me get a feel for where I'm standing. I'm not saying this wouldn't work as a near-abstract, but I think it would take a much bigger crop to refine it for that purpose. Nicely done.

I think I remember this one, but this repost is just incredible. The yellow/blue mix and misty atmosphere is - to use your words - phenomenal  The delicate branches are like a stained glass window, which works very well with this mood.

vance - this is very cool - i like it enormously. great lines and some fabulous atmospheric conditions. for some reason, the blue in the top left corner grabs my eye - i'd be inclined to find some solution to remove it. beautiful work!

Sorry I missed this one, Vance! It has a surreal beauty in it, something that cannot be understood, but that doesn't need to be. Amazing work!
