A Walk In The Woods

I was up in northern WI the last few days dropping pictures off at a couple of galleries that have some of my work. I stayed at my sisters cabin on a beautiful small lake. On this morning we had some nice soft light and fog which made walking in the woods wonderful. I really enjoyed the three days I stayed there listening to loons on the lake and walking in the woods. Thanks for looking.

I also posted another view of these woods in M&N gallery.

This is a lush, lovely, natural scene, Nick. Your choice of composition gives the lush grasses great prominance and I wonder (and hope) if you took others of this view or have cropped this tall to allow a scene of trees, lichens prominance? This is not a preference by me because I love this as posted. The lovely woods, I just know has other inviting views.

Really like the intense green and textures here. The OOF background seems to add to the "fog-light" that illuminates the scene.

Thanks Charlie and Tony. I do have a few different views in this woods Charlie!
Tony, My feeling too was if I kept the background a little softer it would add to the feeling of this, and I hope it does.
Thanks guys. Nick

The mood is soft and sweet, wonderful light and the predominance of greens makes this image very easy on the eyes.

Nice capture Nick. The twigs make it seem a little busy in areas but overall a beautiful scene.

Nick, your composition works very well for me, I like the variatiety of greens and all the different textures. Your captured the grasses wonderfully tangible to me. I also appreciate your choice of depth of field that separates the two foreground trees nicely for me.

Real nice forest scene Nick. The sharp foreground leading into the softer background woods works very well here.

A classic Northern shot, and Nick, you've framed this quite nicely. That's about as clean a shot as we're going to get around here! (twigs and debris) Beautiful!

Thank you for your comments on this one so far. I really appreciate them. This was some of the nicest light and conditions in the woods that I have had for quite awhile now, and I really enjoyed it.
Matt, Yes...it really is pretty hard getting a clean shot in the woods here. I wandered around quite a bit trying to come up with a shot that I knew I just wasn't going to toss away later (or at least hoped not too). Nick

Your emotional connection to this place and it's conditions come through really well in this image. A beautiful, quiet, peaceful place. Lovely work!

This is lovely Nick a beautiful natural looking woods and a carpet of green to settle down in and enjoy its minty coolness. Looks like you have been forcing your 5D into a 6x7 format.

This is a great shot, no doubt about it. The two main trees are lovely. The green lichens spectacular. I could see cropping this as a vertical with the focus on those two trees but I like as is too. Great work Nick!

I really like the strong greens and comp. There's a nice depth to this with the open space around the main trees, and the bright green draws me into the scene. Nicely done.

Love the greenery and atmosphere, Nick. The shallow depth of field works perfectly too.

The two main subjects, echoed hold everything together well compositionally. Very well done.
