Wild Geese Go

These Canada Geese were near the shore of Lake Ontario yesterday morning making tracks for deeper water.

As in my previous images, I used Corel Painter 12 to obtain a painterly bg and superimposed the main subjects, the geese, as a CS5 processed photographic image. In this case the Painter 12 procedure involved manual painting superimposed upon auto painting involving several brushes and specifying gessoed canvas.

1D Mark IV, 100-400 mm ff/4.5-f/5.6, hand held: ISO 1250, 1/1600 s, f/11, -1/3 EV, 7.6 MP (48% of 16 MP full frame), NR, exposure adjustment, sharpening.

For me, the point of interest in this image is the dynamic shape created by the overlapping wings. The fact that they are geese is of secondary importance. The painterly effect helps to emphasize the shape rather than the species and works well. I really like the composition as well. Beautiful image.

I do like the results of the BG which works well with the geese.

Very nice effect. You had an excellent comp to start with.
