Captured this egret in Colorado trying to scare up some breakfast. Very entertaining birds to watch!

Hi Dan,

I love watching Snowy Egrets hunt, they are very entertaining and at times downright funny. I love the water color in this along with the silky texture it has. The pose of the egret is great with the wings spread like they are and the water spalshing by the foot. I like that although the egret is facing us we can still see a catchlight.

You don't mention if this was cropped at all but if it was I think loosening the crop to allow more space all around would make a stronger comp, especially if you have enough room at the bottom for the part of the leg that is underwater.

Cool pose, Dan. It really conveys action instead of the stillness usually associated with this and other egrets.

cool pose and great colors in the water, Dan. I agree that it's a little tight for me--more room all around would be welcome to my eye. I like the flying water drops and that you were able to get a catchlight with this pose.

I like this one too for many of the same reasons already mentioned, the action, the colors in the water. Not to "pile on", but I felt that the bird was a bit tight in the frame as well, before I read the other critiques.

Really like the energy in this shot Dan. Exposure looks good on most of the bird as does sharpness. Nice colors reflected in the water too. Agree about the overall tightness of the image.

Wonderful pose with the wing spread and that dark background. I would agree with others that a little more room would help but nice job getthing this difficult contrast type shot, way to go.
