Raw file processed in Photoshop Elements 9

I had the thought of trying to do focus stacking with images of this flower, so I shot a bunch of images with different focal points, but I don't think I'm going to really be able to do it any time soon, so I'm just posting this one.

The focus here was on the viewer's left instead of the front. The reason I chose that one to post is that there is so much more to see of the petals on the viewer's left than the ones in front. I don't know whether that works, though.

All feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I cannot see any issues with this photo, Barbara. Works pretty well as presented to me and from appreciating the flower perspective, this shot does more justice than the previous one - in my opinion.

I have a suggestion for you (you spoke of sharpness etc in your previous post). Most of the zooms like 70-300, 55-250 etc are usually soft at the long end. So if you desire sharpness it may be a better idea to shoot around 200-210mm or so.

I really like your comp for this, Barbara. The curving green stem against the green BG leads to the pop of color of the flower. Very eye catching. Also like the interesting lay of various petals on this flower. I think your DOF is great for this; showing good detail but keeping a blurry BG. I think this is a great shot!

I am not big fan of composition ( rather have diagonally , but it's more about taste........) other that the quality, sharpness and BG are stunning, thank you for sharing !!! :wavey:

This works well for me Barbara and I also think the color is better in this one. I still like the curve in the stem. A very fine image for my tastes.

Nice image. The flower stands out nicely from the background and the colors pop well.

I like the details in the flower and agree that the softness at the front is not a distraction. Including the curving stem gives a sense of motion, but part of me thinks there's too much stem...food for thought.

Really nice portrait. If you do the stack later I might clean up a few spots that are more evident on the larger version, but that's a minor thing and purely subjective.

There's a lot to see, yet keeping it simple in terms of comp really makes this work for me.
