Green Woodpecker + rework

This was at the first session at my little woodland pool which has had no water for weeks.I put some in two days ago. This bird turned up at 7;45 - last evening.
I was just messing around playing with settings and he was so close even at the 100mm end that it was what you might say "a bit tight "

Not too bad for 1250 ISO - f8 @ 50th second.
D7000 Sigma 100-300mmf4
full frame virtually. Bit of canvas added . It really wastight.
No sharpening - I pass neat image.
Cheers

BIF fine for me,
I only wish it was in 3D.

Since I have jumped on the 3D bandwagon, 2D images, no matter how good, appear so, er, hum, flat.

A phenomenon becoming less so, and more the norm.

There are still a few points where I can see you have been working, John, but basically a fine capture with plenty of detail. Do something about that area left of the beak!*

David

*Now tell me that's exactly as shot...

Thanks all. David -yes its a terrible job. The bird was that big in the frame there was hardly any surround at all. I tried stretching the left side and took out a blue tits tail doing 90 mph, and as I said added some canvas . The bottom is the worst.
I lost interest in the end  At least the bird was there !!
(I think)

This bird has virtually completed its moult. My GWs in Essex are looking a real mess at the moment, not as bad as the Jays though, some of which are bald. I think I would have left this as shot, or maybe even cropped it as tight as possible.

Great pose John - both images have their appeal.
