Black Skimmer

Another shot from Bolsa Chica. I was pleased to get this skimmer with a varied background with warm early morning light, rather against the sky or water. If you look closely at the larger version, it has a tiny little fish.

Such elegant lines! Interesting to see an image of this species when it's not actually skimming; it greatly accentuates the disparity of lengths of it's upper and lower mandible. I was wondering what that was poking out from the side of it's bill, thanks for clearing that up Keith ;^)
