New Zealand falcon or Kārearea is the last surviving endemic New Zealand raptor. Like many New Zealand birds, this falcon was cooperative and easily approached, but got fed up with me real quick. Mt Cook/Aoraki National Park.

I like this very much. The shape of the background around the bird seems to really work well here. It brings my eyes to the subject without distraction. Love the raised foot. 70-200!! Wow. You must have been really close on this one. Nicely captured.

That is close for a raptor - like the raised foot.

Very nice pose, eye contact, detail and setting. I like the one raised foot and the nice texture on the rock.

Andrius: What a beautiful image of a stunning falcon! WOW! There is so much to like here! The birds pose ane your outstanding timing to capture his look and raised talon is outstanding. I love its rugged perch, full of character. And the background is what puts this one into that extra-special level in my opinion, showing clearly the environment this raptor lives and hunts in, without being at all distracting from your main subject. Nice contrasting and complementary tones as well.

Congratulations on a great image!
