Falkland Steamer-Duck

Olympus E-3, 300mm x 2.0TC, handheld
f11, 1/500, ISO200

Like a lot of remote island birds, the Falkland Steamer-Duck is flightless. I wanted to get a shot that showed just how pitiful the species' wings have become. It took 45 minutes, but I got this wing stretch.

Gypsy Cove, East Falkland Island. The only place I've birded which is partially closed because of a minefield.

75% of full frame. Selective sharpening of bird. Some adjustments to try to mitigate the harsh light.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Its always tough when you have a great subject in harsh light. Very nicely done given the lighting obstacles.
